Welcome to the Summer term.
The children have started to write about their Mr. Men families and will continue their entertaining work on this, creating their own stories.
Our next topic will be based on ‘Our Environment’ which will be linked to different areas of the curriculum. We will start to look at ‘Our School’ and later move onto ‘Our Local Area’ – we will hopefully have some nice weather and be able to get out and about for some ‘field work.’
In maths, we will be learning about basic fractions, pattern and symmetry and positional language, alongside practise with number facts and their relationships.
We will continue to work through the phase 5 Letters and Sounds program in phonics – learning lots of alternative ways to spell different phonemes. In June, the children will complete the Year 1 phonics screening check, so you may see some more phonics orientated homework tasks.
We hope to arrange a school trip after Whit half term; a letter will be sent out about this with further details.
Books will continue to be changed Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Homework will be set on Wednesdays, to be completed and returned on Monday mornings. Spellings will also be issued on Wednesdays and the children will be tested on these on a Monday.
Please can you ensure that your child has a PE kit in school, complete with suitable footwear for outdoor PE.
Thank you for your continued support.
