Welcome to our Year 2 class webpage. We will use this page, the school Instagram and school Facebook page to showcase the children's learning throughout the year.
Other links include key skills and resources that you may find useful to support your child's progress this year.
Zones of Regulation:
In our RSHE lessons, we have been exploring Zones of Regulation . There are 4 zones - red, yellow, green and blue and each zone reflects emotions and feelings for the children. We are discussing each zone every week and identifying ways we can regulate our emotions.
We have looked at Green zone where children feel happy, content, focussed and ready to learn. The children loved our movement break which is something they can use if they need to stay in the " Green" zone.
In the blue zone, we might feel tired, sad, sick or bored. To move back to green, children might listen to music, hug a teddy, take a rest, have a cold drink, do our dragon breath and our movement breaks.
We discussed feelings in the "yellow" zone e.g. worried, silly, confused , nervous. We looked at ways of slowing down and returning to the "green" zone which might include drinking cold water, taking a break, going for a walk, butterfly hug and rainbow breathing. Rainbow breathing is a lovely activity to return to calm.
I've added a link to some of their favourite movement breaks which may be useful at home too.
Reading:
Children are expected to read 5 times a week and bring their reading record to school each day. Every time your child reads, please record this in their reading record as we check these daily and give the children a stamp.
