|We provide in house catering and do not use Cheshire East Local Authority Catering Services.
The Government introduced Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) in September, 2014. All pupils in Reception and Years 1&2 are entitled to these.
We regularly upgrade our facilities in order to enhance provision for the pupils and provide a varied, nutritionally balanced menu.
Message from Ashley
Hi! I’m Ashley McKie the cook at St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School and my Assistant is called Amber Albiston. We provide your children with a nutritionally well-balanced healthy meals. All of our menus are devised with the help of dieticians and they follow Government guidelines.
We aim to offer all home-made dishes, from main courses to desserts, with extra portions of healthy salad and a slice of bread. The children can choose from a wide selection of meals each day. If any child has a specific dietary need we will do our best to cater for that child.
At morning break, we offer a variety of snacks for sale to Years 1 to 6 including toast, crumpets, teacakes, bags of sultanas, fruit juice and cartons of milk. We provide the Reception class with a selection of fruit & vegetables and a cup of milk each day, free of charge. On Fridays we have a ‘Special’ day when children who normally bring their own packed lunch can opt for a school meal instead. We provide special menus for key school events such as St Benedict’s feast day and Christmas.
I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the pupils of St Benedict’s for making my job really enjoyable and most rewarding.
