Kites and pirates
At the start of this half term not only did we get to taste some pancakes, but Mrs Ogden also treated the children to some Chinese food to celebrate Chinese New Year. Afterwards, we had a go at doing our own dragon dance in the hall.
Later that week, the children found a kite that had become tangled in our playground fence together with a polar bear, a seal and a penguin tied up in the kite string! Luckily we rescued the animals and have been talking about where they might have come from, and how they could possibly got here. We hope to find out more soon.
Meanwhile our classroom and playground have taken on a sea faring pirate theme so we've had children building pirate ships with the blocks, sorting pirate jewels into repeating patterns, squirting the tricky words with a water gun and following maps to find the hidden treasure.
Oh, and we also had a visit from a couple of newts and we have our first frog in our pond this year.
More squash buckling adventures to come...
