SEND Information
At St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School, we provide a broad and balanced curriculum in a safe, stimulating and caring environment, which allows everyone to achieve, develop, learn and grow. All areas of school life are inclusive and the quality first teaching strategies encourage everyone to reach their full potential. Some children may have barriers to learning that mean they have special needs and require particular action by the school.
We have an experienced team supporting children with SEND:
- Mrs Tamsin Vernon – SENDCo
- Mrs Karen Gregson - Speech and Language Support
- Mrs Louisa Joyce – Inclusion Governor.
We work closely with external specialists who help us support all our pupils effectively.

Results of the Pupil Voice Questionnaire
We are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our pupils so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at our school. If bullying does occur, all pupils should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively. We use a solution focused approach to support all pupils and ensure that they feel listened to. The anti-bullying policy is written in accordance with recommendations by the anti-bullying alliance.
Annually, in conjunction with anti-bullying week, children complete a survey about their safety in school, the results were as follows:
94% of KS2 pupils said they felt safe in school and 96% feel safe at break times.
Most pupils listed staff as their first port of call should they feel worried at lunch or break times, followed by friends
95% said they felt that their concerns were taken seriously and they were listened to.
95% of pupils feel safe from bullying and 97% feel safe online.
5 pupils said there were some areas in school where they don't feel safe for the following reasons:
- “Please can we have higher fences – I don’t like the fence at the back of the field”
- “Feel unsafe during fire practice”
- “I dont like it when the fire alarms go off”
- “I get worried that tiles will fall from roof in the toilets”
- “I feel scared I will get locked in the toilets”
